Nokia E71 Fanatics Blogs: Bluetooth Headsets For The E71: So Many Choices, Which To Choose?

  • MrVx · 4 months ago
I opted for Motorols s9 Stereo BT Headset and it works well with my E71. There are a few skips here and there but that I believe is standard with any A2DP headset.

I also use s9 with my e71. the skips are annoying but found that if you move the phone away from your body the skips stop. so I use it in the backup or back pocket and all is well no skips. On the PC there is an option to choose sound quality and if lower the quality the skips also stop.

wouldn't buy anything without micro usb charging.
  • Mike Macias · 4 months ago
Which ones have that? The Motorola?
  • mr_manny · 4 months ago
    x3 on the Motorola S9

    lasts about 5hrs.
    micro charging.

    has anyone tried the S9-HD?

might order a set of the S9-HD ear-buds...improved design.

I'm using my good old Sony Ericsson DS970 since more than 3 years, now also on the E71. The battery is getting a little weak. Call me peranoid, but I like the fact that the sending/ receiving unit is NOT on my head.

I bought a Nokia BH-214 and have found it to have been an excellent choice, I was never interested in models such as the BH-501 or BH-503 because I want to choose my own earphones/headset so a Bluetooth dongle with A2DP and a 3.5mm jack was all I was looking for.
  • shubjero · 3 months ago
Neil how much did you pay for the BH-214?
  • Neil Boothman · 3 months ago
I paid £39,99 on eBay for the device, not sure that is the most competitive price around but I was in need of a good solution quickly.

Since I use 2 mobiles, I use i-tech Clip Vibrate. It allows me to use only 1 headset to connect to my 2 mobile phones simultaneously

Have you used your bluetooth headset for your PC as well? I'm assuming you can also pair it with a laptop/pc and use it to play music or make VOIP calls.

    Has anyone tried?
  • Mikel · 3 months ago
I tried a while back with older Nokia and a Motorola bluetooth headsets and had problems. I think after a while I might have got it working, but then I had to manually re-pair every time to change between my mobile/cell phone and my PC. And it wouldn't work in Linux.

i use the motorola ht280 for over 3 years now. love it, but next time I get one without an ear clip...

What do you guys think about the Nokia BH-903 bluetooth headset? Has anyone used it?
  • jthousand · 4 months ago
I have the Motorola S-9HD model and I love it. It has great sound good battery life, and good fit. Great for at work or around the house. My only problem is they skip alot when I am wearing them to work in the yard, with my E71x in my pocket.

I use the Plantronics 855 and love it. It's convertible - looks like a normal headset, then when you want stereo you plug in a small earhook which has a cord to the other earplug. Very decent sound (comparable to my well-reviewed $100 wired in-ear headphones), good battery life, micro-USB charging, very compact. Unbelievably, only $31.50 at Amazon.

Have a look at Sennheiser MM 200. Pricey but sounds fantastic! Works well with my E71. Including voice-activated commands.

I guess my favourite headset will be up on my next post ;P Great topic Mike, accessories are important but we hardly see many reviews or blogposts about them. I've tried the Nokia BH-501 and I prefer in-ear plugs mostly because I can turn the volume down and preserve battery :)

Anyone have the JayBird Bluetooth wireless headphones? They look pretty cool but want to do my homework before coughing up the $$. Looks like they have good reviews.

Hey Neil Boothman, I am also quite interested in this Nokia BH-214 set, but I was not sure if it is fully competable with the E71, do all the controlls like pause, forward, backward and vollume work wel?

    Best regards, Rutger
  • Neil Boothman · 3 months ago
Yes the BH-214 is fully compatible with the E71, all the buttons work although the BH-214 seems to amplify/control volume within itself rather than on the phone (i.e. changing the volume on the set doesn't change the volume settings on the phone) so if the volume is set to high on both the phone and on the BH-214 then you could do your ears some damage - just a warning.

"Control your phone calls from the buttons integrated into the headset."

So do they all have microphones as well? None say that they do in the feature list.
  • Mike Macias · 3 months ago
    Of course they do.
  • Mikel · 3 months ago
What's the sound quality of the mic like? There must be a reason older one-sided bluetooth headsets have an arm that extends towards the mouth.
  • Mike Macias · 3 months ago
The sound quality is excellent on my headset. The reason for the long arm
that extends to the mouth is because of old technology. People don't even
know I'm on bluetooth and I can always hear them clearly.

Personally I'm not a big fan of regular bluetooth - I find I don't need it.
But stereo bluetooth is some of the coolest technology ever. No wires!

Is there some BH - 503 users? What do you think of it? does it realy heart your ear?

I'm going to buy the BH - 503
    35 Euros on ebay

Hope it's good for daily use

i bought the nokia bh-103 a few weeks ago and i am extremely impressed so far, music sounds ridiculously good for a 40 euro headset (though you have to play around with your equalizer, its too bass-heavy for this headset by default),the entire thing weighs less than 20 gramm and it uses the same charger as the e71,so i got a second charger i can use with my phone as part of the package, highly recommended
