I checked using Nokia Software Updater - nothing
I reinstalled Nokia Software Updater - nothing
Tried verifying the product code on Nokia web-page - nothing
Searched which codes got the update - nothing
Downloaded NSS to try changing my phones product code........
First I was frustrated but now I don't even care because my time is more precious than trying to install an update which will fix nothing for me. It will not make the phone stop restarting for random reasons, it will not make it faster, it will not stop the accumulation of crap after each install and uninstall... And UDP - why is that not in the update!
I will skip this one and all the rest until I hear people saying: "You know what? I updated my Nokia E71 and there are so many new cool things available..."

Have anyone tried it?
This 3 new "apps" facebook, myspace, youtube, are only shortcuts to web pages! shame Nokia...
I have a sim locked phone (orange) with a orange firmware, does anyone know if I unlock it in a shop for 20$ it will unlock my firmware updates or just my sim ???
Thanks
Regards, GermanG from Argentina.
If i update to 300.24.012 will i loose urdu language and will my keys shuffle??
Help ma plz!
WLAN connection already active close it and try again
Nothing I could do would make the WLAN work so I had to start from scratch with the phone. Not a problem as the phone was fairly new.
So I go ahead and update the firmware again today to 300... and again backup etc. After install all works fine but of course when I restore from backup same error. I tried restoring everything except setting and it works fine, but as soon as I restore settings same problem. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do? If this is going to be the case everytime then its a problem upgrading.
Any ideas???

Got the same problem with Operamini sometimes. Only solution is to get rid of operamini and install it again. Than the problem is solved.
grtz, Tom
BTW I'm still not able to reach Nokia Upgrade Server (internet connection, but my internet is OK)
regards, germang from Argentina.
I use funambol app: I recommend it. You don't have to memorize a Sync profile. Just keep the .sisx file in memory card and install it after a reset/fw update...
Ok I've confirmed HelloOx 1.05 1.03 does NOT work with this new firmware :( I had to sign every single app now LOL :D
It has changed the font size to kinda bold and it looks yukky!
Nothing noticeably improved, and why Nokia can't offer an "Smaller" option to the font in addition to "Small" still frustrates me, as that screen specially in standby mode is poorly used. Handy Shell shows how the space can be used with smaller fonts which look good on the screen (Just that Handy Shell has too many usability issues once installed).
Though i don't have examples to share, the photo quality has improved more since the last firmware upgrade. The colors are a bit more accurate (though no where near to the true color yet), and the details more finer (maybe Nokia has optimized their noise removal software).
The sad dream that they would have enhanced their video capture mode to the original spec they had for this phone (VGA@15fps) though seems to be missing :D Hoping for too much i suppose. Though how Nokia can get away indicating wrong specs to the actual product feature, and not changing the spec until recently to match the phone capabilities is shocking.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

So far tyhe only "bug" I've found. The stability of the phone is a whole lot better. It doesn't get so warm anymore when using Internet and the audio player at the same time. The quality of the camera may have improved a "little" bit but not as much as some people claim.
grtz,
Tom
1) Upgraded firmware to 300.21.012 using Nokia Software Updater. Everything went smoothly.
2) Used the std browser and downloaded the Nokia Email client from email.nokia.com, installed successfully. When installing, I remember the app details was Nokia Email Version 9.05(75).
3) I went to Menu -> Installations -> E-mail setup.
4) Immediate I was prompted "Allow application to use network to send or receive data?". Pressing "No" will exit the application, so I went on to press "Yes". It hangs there forever!
At that point of time, I have an active 3G connection to the Internet. I tried switching to an available WLAN network to the Internet as well but the effect was the same (hangs after pressing "Yes" on the first screen of E-mail setup).
After much frustrations, I restored my phones factory defaults by entering *#7370# at the home screen. I suspected that the reason Nokia email didn't work was probably because the firmware upgrade wasn't entire "clean". When the phone came back up, I repeated steps (2) -> (4) above and the outcome was still the same!
I am now using System SEVEN as an interim until this issue is fixed by Nokia. I do hope that Nokia looks into seriously as it is a major handicap to business users if upgrading to the latest firmware causes Nokia Email to NOT WORK!
Did anybody faced the same problem ?
Did anyone notice how the battery life was majorly shortened by the new firmware???
it seems like nokia pull back the 300.21.012, I’ve got my phone updated a month ago and now i can't replace the update (nor to install it to my other E71) because the update is no available any more. The only thing that keep me from changing the product key is that I want to keep my eastern european key settings. I also notice that the update service was not working for a week and after that period the problem appear. Did any one know anything about that ?
