I'm yet to find a usable gmail client for my E71. There are three options, all of which suck big time.
1. Internal email client is too simple and cannot cope with the large number of emails I have in my account.
2. Nokia messaging looks nice, but since it does not support "threaded view" which is a default in gmail (meaning that I have threads with 50 emails easily) is not usable either - once you get to a large thread in your correspondence it will take up all of your screen
3. Gmail java app sucks too as it cannot work offline

Any recommendations?

I'm now using the Nokia email messaging since a few weeks. Previously I used to receive and send emails through the actual mailboxes situated in the messages folder. The problem is that the mail boxes won't delete from there. I'm trying to remove them in order to only use the Nokia messaging instead but there is no option to remove a mailbox from the messages folder. Any ideas?

Hi
I need your help gues, I can't set up my e-mail account at Gmail. Few days ago it was ok, but one day I tried to retrieve my e-mails and it couldn't happen. After that all the time that I was trying to do it, the phone was blocking. Then I deleted the mail and tried to set it up one more time, but now all the time that I start the operation it just shows "testing connection" and phone is blocking.

The most strange thing is that when I tried to go to Gmail.com thrоugh my Opera Mini or standard Browser the phone just blocks.

Please help if you know how to solve this problem!!

I tried downloading the app from email.nokia.com. They asked me to access the same site from my mobile to download.
When I did that, and I click the download button, it is not working.
indicate "Wed : connection time-out!"
Please help me. Thks!

heyy I need some serious help here in E71 .. I set up my gmail and yahoo mail accounts using nokia messaging .. But when I go to Tools>Settings and further to change my mailbox preference in email 1 and 2 .. it says no mailbox defined .. so I deleted both the mailboxes from Email application .. But still the two still appear on the home screen while they are deleted from the email application .. Then I again installed my gmail mailbox .. But it doesnt show up in the application now .. And still the old two mailboxes are showing up on the home page and clicking on them takes me to the application and there again as I said is no mailbox visible ..
What should I do ??

Hi, I have installed Nokia Messaging Service and everything works fine except the automatic syncing function. I always have to push 'Sync' manually to get my emails.

In settings I have set 'Soonest' for 'send and receive' and 'On all day' for 'hours'.

Can this have something to do with the connection settings of my phone itself?

Nokia has been extremely lazy about updating its support and software sites for the E71. I am based out of India and recently bought the Nokia E71. I was very happy with it till I got on the Nokia site to download the map applications. To my horror I found that the E71 is not mentioned in the supported model list. Further - when I went to search for other application software for E71 - again a blank.

I am a new user and do not understand anything on this phone. I am trying to add yahoo mail and cannot? It still keeps saying "set up email"? I am also wandering when I go to my inbox messages and reach the yahoo folder i supposedly added..how do I delete it if I added it twice and it has a folder yahoo and another one yahoo1??

Does the Nokia E71 have Push email, the reason why i ask that is that i need to connect to my email all the time to could see my emails, and when someone sends me a email i need to go into the email and connect it first then i can see i have a new email, and i have to do that ALL the time so i wont be notified if i got any new emails before i go and restart and connect to the email

hi there its really strange i have been using nokia messaging for months, the push worked great. and suddenly two weeks ago when i tried to access my emails from home screen it asked me to login by entering password, which i did and then it says there is a server problem. so i went to email.nokia.com to login, and for at least two weeks now i can not login. really strange i thought i would remove and reinstall program/app but when i download from web it creates mailbox in the regular messanging folder next to sms. but now i can not send a link from nokia website which should take me to sms provisioning which creates the proper application, like it did originally. any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi,
I recently installed Nokia email app which came with the new firmware update 300x. I can easily add my Yahoo, but cannot seem to add my main POP3 account which i use for work. Whilst I have this email working fine in the default messaging app that comes with Nokia (but very ugly), I cannot get it to work in the new Nokia email app. I keeps defaulting back into a new account on the old messaging app. Does the new Nokia email only work with common emails such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo and not on others?

@Vaibhav When you select 'Exit' from the application it presents you with a screen that has (I think) 'Yes' on the left and 'No' on the right. In the middle of the screen is a small green (again, I'm not 100% sure) box that says something like 'Application is online' next to it.

If you press down on the D-Pad you can then tick or untick this option to make it go off-line when you exit.

Please help me as the email system on my e71 stays on. I am unable to understand how to switch it off and on. I am in office most of the time and hence require it only when I am outside...That is when I need it but the mails keep popping up....HELP???

emails received always have attachments as windat files. Annoying!

I understand setting the outlook mail formay to plain text sorts this - great! Except i can't ask everyone who sends me an email to my phone to change their outlook settings to plain text can i!

Is there an answer to recieve emails with downloadable attachments??!!

what application is best on the E71 as i'm annoyed with it so far

If I send an email with 3 attachments [total bytesize 300kb] the email doesn't even get to the outbox! it says sent, but is never sent.

I tried sending one 300kb attachment, but that went thru. Either its a bug or a restriction with number of attachments that can be sent!

There might not be an access point set or it can't connect, it can't go online to send the email so it puts it in the outbox for sending when it can find a connection. Another possibility is that there's a delay set so that it only sends after a period of time has passed, you'll have to go through the options screen to make sure everything is in order.
