Nokia E71 Fanatics Blogs: What Time Is It? Get A Clock Anywhere, Just Like The E71X And Feature Pack 2

  • tehk · 8 months ago
    Thanks Mike!
I used this app a long time ago on my E61. It was great!

However, I stopped using it on my E71 because of Opera mini. But since you can choose what apps you don't want the clock to appear on.. this app is definitely coming back to my device!

Great app! Never knew anything about it, even though I have searched a lot about symbian software. Thank you once again for it! PS: I am not sure if it deserves to be announced, but, having some problems with sending messages through Nokia Messaging, I tried to reinstall it , which I did, but it seemed to me that it has a new number of release .. Maybe I am wrong... You can check...

Pretty cool app. I found it last week somewhere and loaded it right away. I took if off almost as fast because I didn't want the time on the homescreen twice. Thanks for the info on "blacklisting" some apps. I just put it back on, works great on everything except Nokia Maps, the time blinks for awhile and then all I get is a white box blinking on and off where the time should be. I just blacklisted Nokia Maps and I'm good to go. Thanks Mike!

how would you remove the clock on the dim screen?
The screen where you press unlock to activate your phone?
  • Mike Macias · 8 months ago

    Hi Mike,

Nice app this one. Any idea how to make the am/pm text to upper-case AM/PM. My E71 shows the am/pm lower-case format. Really weird and disturbing.

    Thanks heaps.
  • Mike Macias · 8 months ago
Hmmm, mine is in uppercase. Maybe it's the font. I chose Nokia Hindi S60
  • sylloxtric · 8 months ago
I chose the same font as well to no avail. Have also tried different themes still no good. :(

Have you got it set to System time, 24hr or 12 hour (don't think it makes any difference really.)

If i chose "Analogue" in clock settings. it also shows lowercase am/pm in the Home Menu. Really weird.

Thanks for the reply mate. Appreciate it.
  • Mike Macias · 8 months ago
Hmmm, this is weird I have mine set to BOLD. 12 hour time. e71-2
  • sylloxtric · 8 months ago
I have set to BOLD, etc. Tried numerous different tricks :).
Although i have E71-1 with latest firmware (that's probably it).
  • Rey · 8 months ago
hey mike thanx for the heads-up on this app. just one question: the time doesn't show even if i already enabled Display Time, what's with that?

P.S. I have time bar, beeper and this app installed in my phone :)
  • seb · 8 months ago
    Thanks for this gem !
  • Gopal · 8 months ago
even though I have blacklisted the homescreen from this app. The clock appears on the home screen when I lock the keypad.
  • E71er · 8 months ago
Can't get it to NOT show up on lock screen of E71-2 which is really irritating. Granted, it's only a few seconds before it fades to black, but how many times do you check the homescreen to make sure you're phone is locked? Too many, so the apps gotta go.
  • divers · 8 months ago
Do you know hwo to rid of the clock from the screen in e71 and make pulpit looks like in e71x?
  • Dave · 8 months ago
If you can't get it to work, go into settings and then click right on the navigation square and enable display time.
  • Mobile Jorge · 8 months ago
Sweet, this is by far a must have addon, I had always thought of this and there is a way of doing this via a Python addon but this so much more smoother good find.
  • Nederland · 8 months ago
Great app, except that Nokia Messaging wouldn't start anymore after I installed FreeTimeBox. I uninstalled, rebooted and nokia messaging worked again. (nokia E71-1 fw:210.21.006, Nokia Messaging 5.0 b9.5.0.43)
  • Juan · 8 months ago
Divers, I you wan´t it to show in the home screen, locked screen, screensaver and other system processes just use the "import" feature, it will add many system processes to the black list.
  • Fud · 8 months ago
To get it to not show when you unlock the phone and enter your password you need to blacklist "Autolock" & "aknnfysrv", took a few minutes of trial & error to work that out.

Great app by way, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  • Mike Macias · 8 months ago
awesome! thanks for letting us know
  • c · 8 months ago
hi mike. i cant seem to find the settings to blacklist certain applications. all i have in my settings are

    1. start on boot (enabled/disabled)
    2. hide from tasklist (enabled/disabled)

am i missing out on anything here??

    thanks mike! :)

    cheers,
    c

oh i got it figured out ! silly me!

    GREAT APP!!

    Thanks, Mike! :D
  • Chuck · 8 months ago
Sorry, just to be clear, blacklisting apps will remove the FreeTimeBox clock from said app right? Not the default clock that came with the default home screen from nokia? Since the FreeTimeBox clock is on the bottom of the screen, I want to remove the default clock which is on the upper left of the home screen (either in digital or analog form). Can someone clarify how to do this please? Thanks.
  • Mark · 8 months ago
    Dear Fud,

i still cannot remove the clock when I lock my keys. I tried blacklisting both "autolock" and "aknnfysrv" too.

    What am I forgetting?
  • Mark · 8 months ago
nevermind... I just use the import option... it works!
  • Fud · 8 months ago
Yeah, importing gets rid of the clock in most of the places you want it gone, I added "Autolock" and "aknnfysrv" to the blacklist to stop the clock showing when I unlock the phone and the password prompt pops up. The clock's only there until you enter the password but it was bugging me.

Fantastic, now all I need is a decent free timer for when I am cooking and the like.
  • Mike Macias · 8 months ago
That would be cool. I'll look for something like that.

You can also use time clocks software or any other application that can suit your needs. I just use time clocks because it's a good application that helps everyday I need some help.
